Foam Mattress Pad Protector
So now that you have made the investment on a new memory foam mattress pad, should you have a cover for it? Some people say yes, some people say no but when it comes down to it really is your choice. The number one reason that a mattress cover is used is to protect your mattress from stains, such as sweat, urine… etc.
Allergies can be an issue, along with bedbugs and dirt and grime as well. If you want to protect your mattress, or have allergy issues one covere that comes highly recommended is the ” protect the bed premium mattress protector”. These are really neat the way they work, they are very thin made from breathable layers so that they do not affect the feel of your memory foam pad.
Some new mattress protectors out on the market have made huge strides in being not only able to stop stains, but to be breathable at the same time. What is so great about these is that they do not change the feel of a memory foam topper, while protecting from spills at the same time. These new mattress protectors also have the added benefit of protecting against allergy situations such as dust mites and preventing bacteria from growing.
I have seen some of these mattress protectors on display at some mattress stores, you may have seen these as well. Usually in their display what they want have is, a jar with the mattress topper as its lid. Inside the jar will be a blue liquid, and you can take the jar and turn it upside down and the liquid will not pass through the mattress topper, but you can take your mouth and blow into the jar in the air will pass through.
These do a great job of protecting your memory foam padd from all sorts of spills, and yet worked really well for those who are concerned over allergy issues, since the breathable layers prevent bacteria and dust mites from reading in your memory foam mattress pad.

How Thick of a Foam pad?
So once you have decided on a brand of foam mattress pad to purchase, the next question is, how big should the mattress topper be? Foam mattress pads come in several different thicknesses which vary from 1 inch up to 4 inches, and even thicker, and everything in between.
Two inch thick foam mattress pads seem to be the most commonly used. It’s kind of that medium that benefits most people, and is pretty affordable at the same time. Just like with most anything, the bigger you go the more expensive it usually is. One inch being usually to thin, and 4 inches and up usually being too thick. The 2 inch pad will offer better sleep with less aches and pains.
If you’re looking for something a little bit more luxurious the 3 foam mattress pad would be the way to go. These pads offer more cushioning yet at the same time they are deeper so you sink in further, losing a little bit of support on your back. The price of a 3 inch foam mattress compared to a 2 inch foam mattress is quite a bit more expensive. Prices however are coming down over the years and you can yet expect to pay less in the coming years.
Another reason that you might select a 3 inch memory foam pad over a 2 inch memory foam pad is if you are a little heavier. If you’re a woman over 170 pounds or a man over hundred and 90 pounds and are looking for a softer more luxurious feel, the 3 inch foam mattress pad would be the way to go for you. 4 inches and up seems to be a little bit of an overkill, purchasing a foam pad this thick could almost just be used as a guest bed that can be rolled on the floor when you have company over, then rolled up and stuck in a closet after they leave. Well that’s just my opinion anyways.

Memory Foam Pad Quality
There are a lot of memory foam mattress topper’s out on the market today. So does the quality of memory foam mattress topper pads really vary between brand? I’ll have to start with the most common name used when referring to memory foam, this would be Tempur-Pedic.
A lot of people base whether or not a mattress foam topper is good quality from its density or weight. A foam pad offered by Tempur Pedic has a density at 5.34 pounds and is known for being extremely very good quality foam.
While 5.34 pounds is a great wait for a memory foam topper it is believed that anything over 4 pounds of foam is going to be a good quality foam. The lighter memory foams are not as dense therefore they warm up to your body temperature quicker, and have a better initial feel to them.
The downside to purchasing a lesser quality foam such as a 4 pound density foam is the life expectancy. You can expect about 4 to 5 years out of your memory foam pad before softens to the point that you would need to replace it. Really the best way to decide what memory foam will suit you the best personally, is to get on them and try them out. This makes ordering a memory foam mattress pad on the Internet somewhat difficult. If possible go out to your local mattress shop and try out the topper is that they have on display. Find the name, thickness, and brand of the mattress topper that you like the best, then order your foam mattress pad on the Internet and possibly save quite a bit of money.

Memory Foam Pads
Do memory foam mattress top or pads really work? Looking at all other toppers on the market today they’re really just doesn’t seem to be anything to compare to the way a memory foam mattress pad works. A memory foam pad will conform to your body and helps reduce pressure on your joints. One of the reasons that memory foam is so unique is the way that memory foam cells deform when they’re under a load.
The difference between a standard foam pad and a memory foam pad, is that the foam cells compress fully and spread their air pressure to adjoining cells in memory foam. Whereas normal foam will want to spring back to its original shape immediately.
Memory foam is an open cell foam, which basically means that the cells of the foam has holes all of them. Because of this, it allows the memory foam to actually reduce the pressure points on the body while you’re laying on it. No other material for bedding has this custom style of shaping to your body like memory foam.
In addition to all this, memory foam is sensitive to the temperature of your body. So basically what this means is that the lower the temperature is, the harder the foam is. On the opposite end of the spectrum, the higher the temperature is the more elastic or softer the foam feels. For this reason memory foam is also known as viscoelastic foam.
Being temperature sensitive gives memory foam a unique feeling. If you have never experienced the feeling of memory foam, you should go out to your nearest mattress store and lay on a memory foam bed. It truly is a feeling like no other. As your body temperature heats up the memory foam, it ain’t melting feeling that you’re lying down on the foam. This also accounts for the custom molding effect from the foam. There are several brands of memory foam topper such as, Tempur-Pedic, and Postur-pedic.
Foam mattress pads have had a lot of good success with helping people with chronic pain, also with arthritis and fibromyalgia. But for the more ordinary person who just wakes up with your average aches and pains, memory foam pads work extremely well to make it more comfortable, and to relieve those pressure points that are causing those aches and pains.
